The report .. distracts from the real issues, which is that Indigenous nation governments superceded the colonial government of Canada.  … The Report outlines the destruction of Aboriginal nations, culture and self-sufficiency.  The answer is recognition by Canada of the ownership of the lands and resources by the Aboriginal nations.  This is essential to begin the long road to repair the relationship.  Canadian wealth comes from exploitation of Indian possessions, such as the Consolidated Revenue Fund, to pay for the functioning of the Canadian government, its agencies and programs.  The suggestion that welfare funds be used to set up “cheap labor camps” is demeaning and indicates the kind of thinking that is going on behind these recommendations…
